Cheers Guy. Yes I thought that when I saw it that it didn't look like it was on both engines.

Good job it's not a road vehicle as it would fail an exhaust emissions test.

Posted yesterday on their web site that The DPS have had to cancel the October tour. No reason has been given other than 'unforeseen circumstances'

Reliving the past, December 30th 2017, we're having Alycidon through Dewsbury and Batley again. A Pathfinder day tour, Deltic from York to Liverpool and return. AND........it's going over Copy Pit in one direction.

It would be fine - given it's age it would only be subject to a visual test to ensure it didn't obscure the view of traffic. Iirc, the MOT testing manual actually used to single out old two stroke diesels (back when there were still a few lorries about with them in) as particularly likely to be smokey but acceptable none the less!

Goodness, that sight brings back a lot of happy childhood memories of the ECML... many, many thanks for posting that. Made a miserable day a good deal brighter :)

    Thanks very much! :)

About 4 weeks ago, I discovered a website with a large number of photos of Deltics on blue/grey stock on the Southern end of the ECML just after the wires had gone up. It provided inspiration for the shots at Denchworth...

    This is said website: http://www.flickriver.com/photos/98237420@N03/sets/72157635048151669/

Thanks for the link, James - lots to look at there! I certainly remember the inevitable BG at the start of a rake, and likewise Deltics hauling Metro-Camm Pullmans in part of a rake (I always thought the inverted livery very striking). But equally, sad to see them awaiting their last journey to Doncaster and my namesake sat there with no nameplates :(

In your photos, I'm also pleased to see the route indicator blinds present which always looks good on a loco - I didn't mind the 'domino' look, but absolutely hated the plated-over look...

I was a young lad when I first witnessed a Deltic departing from Kings Cross. I remember the platform vibrating as the powerful beast roared out of the station.

Who would have imagined that 35 years after the Deltics were withdrawn a member of the class is seen once again hauling a main line train of blue and grey Mk.2s.

Many thanks to the Deltic Preservation Society and Pathfinder Tours. <BJ>

Here's my effort taken at a blustery Southampton Central this morning. A still from a video which I currently can't upload due to size.
Now at work and awaiting its arrival at Salisbury.;) D9009 1Z45 Burton-Swanage 211017 1.jpg

Thing I remember from the first time I heard one start up (was it shut down?) at the Cross was how the rattling from the phasing gear assembly made it sound like someone was emptying a bag of spanners into a skip! :D
