Even though I am a member of the Unofficial NYMR forum, is there anyone here who has more knowledge of the event.

Here is what I know. LNER 4498 Sir Nigel Gresley is back from repairs and 75029 has just been returned to service after a major overhaul. Most of the home fleet shall be out.

Does anyone know what Guests (of all sizes) have been invited?
Shall there be 2 mainline visitors?

It should be a great gala.

It all seems to be very hush hush at the minute with what locos are to be expected. Would be very interested to see a King class on the NYMR.

I'm guessing that 1 has no schedule for the month of May and that 2 possible candidates have flexible schedules but I wont draw the fine lline to identify these possibilities.

Judging by UK Steam, Riley's pair are on railtour duties at the time of the gala, so are unlikely to make an appearance this year. Looking forward to seeing what the full line up will be though!!

NYMR has a motive power shortage this year so anything that can stay after the gala would be of benefit to the railroad. ala Foxcote Manor last fall. She stayed until the end of last years season. A win-win situation.

Actually 60007 has passed it's boiler test for insurance purposes but has not had the final tests to obtain a new boiler certificate.

It should be ready for the gala but to claim to know that for certain at present is a) more than the support team know at present and b) just ever so slightly premature.

I was thinking about 2 pacifics. One of them would or will be a big draw( but not Tornado).

Well, I was thinking one of Jeremy Hosking's Locomotives. One or the other.
One other though that really stands out during this, The Diamond Jubilee year.
The Drum roll is going on this week(I believe) and the big annoucement that we have all been waiting for should be posted on NYMR Spring Gala Page. I hope there are some surprises other than what is posted below.

Tornado has no chance this year for an appearance at the gala(thank god), that schedule is jammed packed for other locations.

The line-up currently looks as follows:

    Visitors

4464 Bittern (ie in 1930s LNER guise – with full streamlining – we will run with LNER coaches made up to full set with Mark 1s)
70000 Britannia(supporting the patriotic theme in this Diamond Jubilee year)
80072 (possibly masquerading as one of our local engines from the 1950s - 80116-120,)

    Resident
60007 (back in service for the first time in 12 months after major firebox repairs)
75029 (first Gala since returning to service after 2 year overhaul)
    92214
    63395
    69023 (GT station pilot/GD shuttles *)
    825

    Other attractions:
Esk Valley running to Battersby on the 2 Sundays (6th and 13th)
    Demonstration goods trains
Grosmont to Goathland local train (*CL, GN Saloon)

There is also the possibility of a further ‘mystery guest’ loco.

What a coincidence. Both of Mr. Hosking's locomotives are showing up!
I wonder what the mystery guest is.

Not a bad line up. Wonder if princess Elizabeth will make a visit as the mystery loco or even duchess of sutherland

I agree although, I shall add Caley 828
You are not the only one who thinks Lizzie is possibly the mystery engine. Someone else other than me has mentioned Lizzie at the NYMR forum board.

This picture makes you wonder http://www.hornby.com/2012range/sets/

I think Lizzie was proposed some years back as a guest at the NYMR but was unable to be gauged through all the platforms because of the front overhang.
