This is nonsense - 46100 is a steam locomotive doing its job - it doesn't care who is on the train, or what it's for so why should people who are photographing if?

My point was that the train is being run for a political purpose, clearly 'getting behind' the Brexit campaign which is destined to send us back to the dark ages..

But then as you want out Ralph your bound to think this is a great idea!

None of us should be voting on this, leave or stay and powerful people with money should not be using their own influence to 'back' a campaign. This whole situation is wrong.

I can't see where Ralph said it was a great idea, seems to me he's just commenting on the reaction to 2 steam specials running, regardless of their purpose.

You have got your opinion , which you've put on here for all to see and Mr Hosking has his which he's using his train to show.

In your other posts you say you don't know enough to be sure we should be voting, yet here you seemingly know enough to say out will take us back to the dark ages.

Do you have a basis for saying that?

We should really confine this thread to the railtours, including their use for a political purpose, but ...
If we stay in, we know more or less what that implies, pros and cons.
If we vote to leave, negotiations will then begin to decide the future relationship between the UK and the EU. Only at the end of those negotiations, probably after several years, will anyone know the details of that relationship, and hence the pros and cons.
So we do know enough to have a valid reason for voting to stay: some of us like being in the EU, and even for those who don't at least it's the devil we know.
Voting to leave would mean you want to leap into the unknown.

Any truth in the rumour that the Simpsons doll normally carried on the smokebox of 46100 will be replaced by you Ralph for these trips?

Maybe he is showing just how tours should be planned and marketed. Just shows that sales can be made in short time lines when there is a near certainty that a trip will run.

Don't see why not. What's the point of hiring in something you already have?

Well, that will mean all of his tours will run with a box. Funny, as people thought that Hosking was the way forward in providing pure steam tours. Can't MK1 & MK2 run with steam heating ?

Sorry, I misinterpreted your post. It read to me as though you were saying that this had not happened, but should have...
Don't get me wrong. I'm very pleased to see 46100 out and about, and if I could get time off from work, I'd like to go out and video the Bristol - Crewe trip. It's the politicos who think that it's a good way of promoting their cause that bring out the satirist in me. I suppose there's no such thing as bad publicity though, and the only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about.

It's now shown as DBC - should look good with a nice Spanish-built Class 67 in bright red Deutsche Bahn livery on the back (or on the front for the London to Bristol leg).

And I bet 46100s safety systems are in some part manufactured by Bombardier, who produce their train electronics in France, Sweden and Austria

10.00 from Crewe apparently. All I want to know is the route from Crewe to York - Calder Valley or Standedge. "Through the rugged Pennines" is not that helpful. We can always go armed with EU flags to wave.

Wasn't there talk last year of both those routes not now permitting anything bigger than a Jubilee gauge wise?
    Possible via Sheffield?

I wondered about Hope Valley. This is hardly going through the rugged Pennines, though. Could be WCML, Carnforth and Hellifield.

It must surely have been planned with the intention of 70000 being at the head?
Or perhaps the scot will run as 46127?
