Believe cameras focussed on 'homecoming troops' and support service people on the platform, rather than what hauled the trains.
Railway Clearing House called in coaches, and locos, from all over the country to supplement Southern assets in use on Operation Dynamo trains - but not sure about putting GWR logos on Swanage (green) coaches.

    Up platform or down platform?
Is it anything to do with the point rodding and signal wires to/from either the new or old box?

That would be the up platform then. (In general, up is towards the major destination and down is away. So for lines that ultimately go to / from London, up is towards London and down is away from London. The names would persist even on lines where the historic connection has been severed).

It is where the point rodding runs emerged from underneath the 1956 signalbox (previously the Porters Room).

The original LSWR signalbox (roughly on the site of the current one) was suffering from subsidence by the 1950's; as such the Porters Room was converted to a signalbox in order that the first one could be demolished. This converted Porters Room was the 'box that the SR used during its first signalling scheme at Corfe Castle, introduced in 2005 (I think); the current signalbox was subsequently constructed and opened in 2011.

I have a question about the DMU service to Wareham, when it does start, will the crews be Swanage Railway staff on the Wareham section or will the crew have to hand over to another crew from a mainline TOC?

The plan is for the service to be operated by SR staff trained and assessed to an appropriate level of competency for operation on NR infrastructure, in a similar manner to the NYMR operation to Whitby.

Would this mean that subject to route learning it would be possible for SR Crews to work trains beyond Wareham (DMU Tours anyone) or like Whitby will it be a very limited operation

At present, attention is focused on the regulatory and training requirements for the two-year trial service between Swanage and Wareham that a number of local stakeholders have put a significant amount of money into, and which the SR has committed to. Any potential further discussions such as in your question, particularly on a public forum, are more a matter for the future when the trial service is at the very least ongoing.

So, is the DMU link a full Wareham to Swanage affair, or will the mainline registered set shuttle Wareham-Norden?
