Thanks to everyone for sharing some remarkable images and videos, and in particular braving the very variable weather conditions!

It is encouraging that VT can "balance the books" by running a steam special with just seven coaches.

The difference here is that VT owns their own rolling stock and engines they only have to hire in crew from WCR and they also have their own water carrier other charter companies have to hire in everything!

Great show from 5043 yesterday, the engine once again looking picture perfect. I even managed to find some sunshine yesterday and even managed to miss the downpours. The return working up Hatton Bank was rather good, albeit the final 1/2 mile away from the signal check. As usual the engine is a credit to all of VT & Tyseley !

Two shots from yesterday, captured at Banbury and barking through Birmingham Moor Street.

I'm not quite sure what's happened to the Banbury shot as the original file doesn't have the spots that have come up on the watermarked version. They look like dust spots, but my camera was serviced only the other day. Ah well, I'll do some research.

Maureen: Thanks for your reply above. Do you happen to know if VT carry and coal for topping up in the GUV, or is it just H2O?

Maybe it is surprising that other operators have not followed the VT "water carrier" investment.

I know there is the second "A4" tender around, but does it get much if any use? What happened to the other tanker project, the one that was supposed to eventually fit inside a mk1 carriage body?

Those spots are odd, dust spots usually look a bit larger than that like an out of focus blob and if there was that much dust on the sensor it would show up on the later Moor Street shot. Incidentally, you may already know you should never change lenses with the camera switched on, a charged sensor is a magnet for dust.

Remember WCRC have (or at least had) a similar converted GUV not sure if it's still around but might possibly be available for others, although obviously the weight has a knock on effect for loadings and thus fare paying punters capacity.

The other difference is that VT as a wholly owned subsidiary of a charitable trust has made a very considerable investment in all of these loco's and rolling stock through the profits that these trains make.
Other charter companies pay the hire fees and take the profits.......

Just the one shot from me. Climbing up Honeybourne Bank, on the final approach to Chipping Campden Tunnel.
