The info, including timetables, in English is here.

As in previous years it is centred around Neustadt (Weinstraße), which does not involve a mega-trek from GB. I shall be driving, independently, as usual.

Eight of us going out for this one. 7 flying and one taking his time and going by train. Large scale maps purchased and just awaiting the list of suggested phot spots that should appear on the website in the next couple of weeks or so. Looking forward to the open evening at Neustadt. We're booked into a Pension at Ludwighshafen-Mundenheim - it's the old station building - and one morning we have three steam hauled pax past our window in around 90 minutes. :)

First few shots from this event - been here and riding trains for 3 days as part of Railtrail Party.

The run to Heilbronn with 41 360 (deputising for 01 150) on the PostZug this morning was something very special indeed - Heidelberg to Heilbronn is also a very scenic route and the combination of this and hard working, fast steam was magical.

A few of mine from last week. Not many lineside, I spent most of the time travelling instead. I managed 850 miles with steam, my dad managed just shy of 900. A ticket for 5 days was €61.80, so pretty good value!

Like the trespass shot 5944. I was already in the bar at that point. :)

How did you achieve that? The members of our party who tried the nearest bar were told they had to order food to get a drink (okay, so I suppose there is an obvious answer to my question!)

There was some dangerous cheap bier in the nearby Netto, mind!

I booked a table for eight but three went missing. The lady was delighted when I informed her that we were now only five in number and blew me a kiss. Four of us dined and ordered beer and the fifth ordered a coffee. Oddly he was told he couldn't have a coffee on its own until later but he could have a beer on its own. Was a grand day out though. Joined the train a Mannheim and used the train on the branch to get to a couple of locations for photography.

A few more of mine - I feel they are very inadequate after the excellent selection from those on the lineside, as I was with a group mainly travelling on the trains.

These include some taken during run pasts as part of a visit to the Musuemsbahn Merzig-Losheim and the Damplflok Museum, Hermeskeil as well at the main event. Hermeskeil has a collection of around 40 steam locomotives, privately owned. Around half a dozen are restored not working) and the rest are largely in "as received" condition. A number have had the front ends cosmetically restored. The collection includes quite a proportion of surviving Class 44 "Jumbos" as well as some rare examples as shown, includes Classes 22 (Reko Prussian P10), 42, ex Romanian 57s and Prussian 58.

Finally, the start of the balance of the main event, including 01 202 at Pirmasens Nord, the quite excellent 41 360 (definitely the star of the show for me) at Bad Kreuznach and 52 7596 and 58 311 at Ettlingen Stadt during stock moves/private charter on the Monday.

    I don't -so you shouldn't!

You have some interesting shots from a different perspective.

I LIKE the derelict/rusting hulks, very evocative. :)

SNG, I like your shot of the night shed scene.

    5944, yours at Lambrect

    And

    Spamcan, the vineyard shot.

    Thank you for sharing. :):):)
