When Wadebridge was making some rather syncopated beats a few years ago I seem to recall the culprit was wear in the 3:8 rocking lever pivots, which were accessed by taking up the (concrete) smokebox floor. Not a five minute job to put right....

The point still stands, you won’t get £10k extra spend off that vistor, especially as it’s supposedly home based and there for one weekend. Like I say, if it’s externally sponsored then that’s different and I see the logic.

If my maths is right that is a loss of 0.013%. In a year when coal prices have been through the roof, it’s been difficult to source guest steam locos for galas (and for example they had to hire a loco from Embsay for a week to cover a traction...

I mean the post is right, a loss is a loss. As harsh as it may sound the point is valid. Some of the decisions do seem a bit odd. I mean why go to all the expense of getting 34072 back from Swanage for one weekend? Thats got to be nearly £10k of...

Jonnie, I am a fan. I copy and paste your figures to the financial and marketing directors of my railway. However, you posted a loss. A loss is a loss. As dear old Maggie used to say. Earn a pound, spend 99p, everyone is happy.......

Some photos from the last two days of the gala. I did manage a ride on the night trains on Saturday/a bit of Sunday in between taking these and catching up on sleep in the tent! [img] [img] [img] [img] [img] [img] [img] [img] [img] [img]

You often hear and see things written in the railway press regarding the losses being incurred by a number of heritage railways, some of these reaching the hundreds of thousands of pounds mark which is quite frightening really, and it isn't of...

I'm not sure whether this is aimed at me as a negative or a positive. When you see constant publications in the world about X loss or Y appeal, I thought some might like to see that it isn't all bad news.
