Very pleased for my friends within the Gala Committee at the GWSR that they seem to be in luck with 6880. It wasn't to be for the SVR or WSR, but happy they will be the ones to run it for the first time and hope that appeal gives a nice boost to...

The GWSR trains use the opposite platform to the private station, there is a footpath that runs east and you can still get shots of northbound trains there but that looks to be just 9351 this gala. My photo of 7903 from that spot last October...

A double dose of the 1930s this morning, just 3 miles from home. As we waited for 44871, just a couple of minutes before the train arrived, I heard an aircraft engine droning overhead and I looked up. A Tiger Moth biplane was passing over our...

Some good news from the railway, work on the Crownthorpe bridge looks to be near completion and they plan to be open again to Wymondham next weekend for their diesel gala. Will need to have the line open to trains again if a Rail Operations Group...

Given the current situation this looks to me like one of few unassisted steam trips on the main line if you discount Clan Line's regular outings with the Pullmans that are beyond the pocket of most 'average' people. The fact that it is advertised...

Woodland Wanderers are usually hauled by a double engine as the loco does a Mountain Spirit followed by a WW or vice versa. This is because the turn around for the Mountain Spirit is quite tight. There is a second diagram on peak days that uses...
