A very pragmatic solution. At least there's egress available from other carriages - I'm not convinced about the NYMR's way of locking all the windows so you'll need to find a key to unlock a door in an emergency.

Going back to @Steve 's original question, we've just been informed on the GWSR that as a result of conversations with the ORR, the 1 coach in our 7 coach rakes that are off the 6 coach long platform at Toddington is to run with external doors...

You think that Jonnie doesn't know that? He doesn't have to publish the figures here for you to (somewhat bizarrely) send to the directors of your railway. Cut the guy some slack, he's doing a great job in very challenging times.

As 34072 is based at Tunbridge Wells West, we're not paying for it to come and go. The same if for example the Class 33 goes away on hire or when the Jinty last operated.

I'm no fool, I've done this for nearly 10yrs and I'm well aware that £14k loss is a loss but when you read constantly in the press about losses equating to hundreds of thousands I thought (wrongly) that some might like to hear that it isn't all...

One more, probably my favourite. I was leaning out of the window of the first carriage (and I’m still alive). [MEDIA]

This is how it should sound, they need someone who understands how to set Mr Bulleid's chain drive valve gear! [MEDIA]

Think it was the '88 visit when Kolhapur brought the 14(?)-coach evening train back to Bridgnorth . Was stood on Bridgnorth station in the darkness and the roar in the distance was very special. Earlier had watched Lady Armaghdale struggle to...

I believe a decision on the Overnight is still to be taken at the moment so I don’t think there’s a confirmation either way. Like with many a things heritage at the moment it’s all balancing costs, and running an overnight service is not always...

2999 arrives in the very near future as a summer visitor, and then is going to remain for gala. Plenty more to be announced. A very productive gala meeting was held a few weeks back so all being well a good event in store

We found the line a very well run and friendly, as on previous visits. The cafe at Toddington was in our view much improved, without the hanging about to be served we've previously experienced. It had a wide range of sandwiches, toasties, cakes...
