There's a lot about 60007 here - what about 63395? I have attended the second weekend of the last two Spring Galas - a 600 mile round trip - and 63395 has been rostered but has not appeared. Is it going to be the same story this year?

What makes your attempts to deter people from attending (which you openly admit - and sounds a lot like having an axe to grind with the Railway in question) more valid, being presented as a definite "won't be running" than the Railway still including the loco in details on the website? How come your view is "reasonable" and the official line is not?

I am seeking an update but, like the NYMR's webmaster, I am a volunteer who is meant to be trying to run my own business, so can't spend the whole of my time seeking updates on the situation at the NYMR (no matter how much I might want to!)

Perhaps the NYMR doesn't want to make a firm statement until it has a better idea of the most likely situation - unlike you, who seem to be able to predict things with greater certainty (if this is an ability you possess, what are next week's lottery number?)

Q6 - repairs in the hands of the locos owners, but I think the chances of it making the Gala could be said to be "an outside chance" - any NELPG member on here would be in a better position to advise.

I am not trying to deter anyone from attending, rather I am pointing out that 60007 will not be running the first weekend and only has an outside chance for the following weekend. This is the SNGLPT's own stance. The way you put things suggests you would rather attract people under false pretenses than tell the truth.

The update on the main site has been tucked away under loco roster a sub-heading under enthusiasts, not on the main gala area. As to you and the webmaster are volunteers, true but the NYMR has a lot of full time professional staff , starting with a General Manager.

When (if)you do find this area you will note that the date expected back into traffic for 60007 is 28th. may, well outside the gala timescale.

The attitude of yourself and others from the NYMR is that the enthusiast world should be grateful for whatever they get and are not entitled to an honest assessment of the situation. Try to tell the truth , as all concerned parties know it is in reality, and all you can counter with is silly sarcasm about lottery numbers.

The promised update - no guarantees in blood, so I am sure insufficient for some! Best of British at the Spring Steam Gala | North Yorkshire Moors Railway :: A steam train adventure through the stunning Yorkshire Moors

Making allegations of deception is pretty strong and some would view as quite serious. The honest assessment of the situation is that repairs are in hand with an aim of achieving traffic weekend after next. That is what has been stated earlier in this thread by me, yet I am accused of trying to deceive people - I wonder why I bother! There are certain types of people who are never satisfied with anything, especially if it doesn't fit with their agenda (there is a poster on the NYMR's Unofficial Forum who only ever seems to post to spread bad news about 60007).

Anyone willing to read the whole of this Locomotive Allocations | North Yorkshire Moors Railway :: A steam train adventure through the stunning Yorkshire Moors will see 60007 is also listed as "In service" for the Gala! This is hardly "hidden away" as this page has been there for ages and I am sure willl be bookmarked by those who want to regularly check loco status. What I can't tell is when that update went on - the promised update on the Gala is the one above.

Revised daily locos in use have not yet been issued as there remains uncertainty as to when 70000 will be available. The tender (and I believe support coach) have arrived but we are awaiting an update on the progress of the loco - any one at Llangollen able to help me with this!

There is a very great difference between misleading and deception, I used the word misleading you used the word deception, guilty conscience perhaps?

Whatever happens I hope the gala is a success and all attending have a really enjoyable time.

News from Llangollen is that 70000 should reach NYMR by late Wednesday. Guessing it will be attached to its tender early Thursday?

Be great to see Brittania again on Friday. Shame if she won't be running on the 1st day as oddly speculated but never mind, i'm sure i'll spot her somewhere on the line, probably at Grosmont. An A4 on teaks or Crimson red and cream coaches over the moors is the higlight of my day though. How will Bittern look different to Sir Nigel hauling the teak coaches though?

    The current position is as follows;

60007: Despite ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’ completing a successful test run last weekend, the problem with the firebox subsequently recurred, although not as serious as previously. Repairs which involve specialist welding are now arranged for next Monday. Assuming this work is completed successfully to the boiler insurer’s satisfaction, it is hoped to have the locomotive in operation over the second weekend of the Gala.

70000: Delay moving the ‘Britannia’ by road from the Llangollen Railway (which has no connection to the national network) where the engine was appearing last weekend means it will not be possible to off-load and inspect the engine to allow service operation on Friday. It is expected on all Gala days from Saturday 4th onwards.

4464: ‘Bittern’ is expected to appear as planned on all seven days of the Gala, paired regularly with the LNER teak set, providing a matching period train.

80072: Has arrived today and should operate as planned. This is a return visit of this loco normally based on the Llangollen Railway.

63395: Undergoing steam test today, and hoped to be available for the second weekend.

Locos booked for the each of the first weekend dates of the Gala are now:

    Friday 4th: 825, 4464, 45407 (the only date this loco appears), 69023, 75029, 80072, 92214
    Saturday 5th: 825, 4464, 69023, 70000, 75029, 80072, 92214
    Sunday 6th : 825, 4464, 69023, 70000, 75029, 80072, 92214
    Monday 7th: 825, 4464, 69023, 70000, 75029, 80072, 92214

Locos for the second weekend are expected to be as previously advised, but will be updated as events develop.

SNG is in early British Railways garter blue whilst Bittern is in it's LNER equivalent. Also, Bittern is running in it's fully valanced form, with platework covering the motion.

Yeah Bittern looks Identical to Mallard now, but i prefered her as Dominion of New Zealand. I thought Sir Nigel had Valances too though. I

Gresley has never run with valances in preservation, or indeed since they were removed during ww2.

Knowing the A4 Loco soc guys, they would not be stupid enough to claim that the loco would be available. Knowing them, though, I'm pretty certain that they will do everything they can to make it happen. They won't go for the easy option of giving up on the task of delivering. Fortunately, our hobby is full of 'can do' people and with thw will to achievie the impossible against all the odds.
