RSH No77 'Norwood' was the last working steam locomotive outside of preservation in the North East of England. It spent its working days at the Norwood Coke Works in Dunston. No77 has not steamed in preservation though hopefully that can be acheived in the near future. The locomotive is now stripped down to it's frames and the long task of putting the locomotive back together has started. The biggest stumbling block will be the boiler with estimates in the region of £65k and a new boiler barrel required.

You can find more information at our website and we will try to keep it as up to date as possible. www.wrlpg.com

    How can you help?

Join our preservation group with membership forms available on our website. We can also claim gift aid as we are a registered charity.

Visit our online modelshop and the proceeds from all sales go into the restoration pot.

Sponsor a boiler tube for £20 receiving a certificate.

Visit our fundraising events including Spennymoor and Crook model railway exhibitions.

Simply come along to our working parties with any spare time you can give, we are a friendly bunch!

Please help us to complete the restoration.

    Thankyou.

The groups LMS Brake Van has now moved to the NRM Shildon for use on Brake van rides, more info at www.wrlpg.com. Our volunteers took a 12 week break from restoring RSH No77 to complete the brake vans restoration.

Work is now progressing well with No77 with the chassis currently being stripped and cleaned. We are always on the look out for new volunteers whether to help out at model railway exhibitions with our trade stand to helping the rebuilding process of No77. If your interested please get in touch contact me Paul at foxton_paul@hotmail.com or Dave on 01388 817907 (evenings).

I have not posted any updates for a while but the group are still progressing at a slightly slower pace after a few issues. RSH No77 has moved to a new locoation at Towlaw where we hope to complete the reassembly of the chassis in the near future. Our focus over the last few months has been purely fundraising. We are hoping to get stuck into some reassembly after our coming model railway exhibition at Spennymoor.

We are always looking for new members and volunteers, who is not! Please get in touch if you fancy getting your hands dirty putting the locomotive back together.

Just a little update! All the wheels are now on site. Two sets have been away for machining and reprofiling. The third set, which was held to ransom has been returned. We are hoping to re wheel the chassis over the winter with a start to reassemble the motion to follow. The team are continuing to clean up many of the parts and paint ready for the assembly process.

In the meantime we continue to work hard fundraising and the next push is to raise the boiler funds. We now have a facebook page, please visit us, like us and share. https://www.facebook...eservationGroup.

The group are currently looking to raise funds to repair a broken spring and undertake a refurbishment of the other 5 springs. The aim is to have all chassis rewheeled by the summer with work currently progressing with refurbishment of the bearing. We are slightly behind schedule having undertaking a refurbishment of the groups brake van for the Great Gathering at Shildon. If anyone would like to assist please visit our website. We have just listed a large number of items to our online fundraising modelshop. Many thanks.
