Having done a trip on the 'Danny' earlier this year I highly recommend the experience! AND...they serve a yummy 'scouse' (a kind of hotpot).

If you were wondering - The Danny at Sutton Weaver on 3/10/16. Definitely on my 'to do' list.

Are there no Ship Canal trips to Salford planned?

AFAIK...it became increasing difficult to find a workable berth for the Danny at the Salford end. On the trip I did, we ended up disembarking at a quay short of where the DA folks would really like to be.

Still, a voyage on the Danny is the attraction for me, not the destination :)

Thanks John, I missed my opportunity this year, too much to do and too little time, must try harder next year.

You could always help her along by joining the DA Preservation Society Ralph. A snip @ £25 (£27.50 with gift aid) per annum :Updated:

    See website for details :)

Hello everyone, thanks for the replies. Firstly, Yes, you can now join on line which is a major improvement.
We have to keep the old girl running for many years and that means being financially sustainable so we had to quickly review the 2017 season and a result of that was dropping Manchester for several reasons. However in doing so, we can attempt to focus on just a few areas and build our brand and market there, namely Liverpool for the big events and the Weaver for beautiful, scenic cruising. A good combination of shorter cruises aimed at families and tour operators and some more lengthy, specialist cruises such as being able to steam from Albert Dock, Liverpool all the way to Acton Bridge in Cheshire and others such as "The Railway Steamer" from E Port to Garston and return. Please pass the message round we are well and truly open for business!

To join any of these trips you need to know exactly where it starts from and at what time of day. Unless you live nearby you need that information before starting to consider which trips you might be interested in. The timetable at post #1 says "See website for departure points and times" but only for the Weaver Shuttle, not for all the other trips.

A pleasant if somewhat hot couple of hours spent on the Weaver Navigation at Dutton.
Although I hate to admit it in a little over a month it will be fifty years since I first visited this location, canoeing up the river from Frodsham during the 1968 annual Scout Camp, which is of course how I managed to miss the end of steam on BR.
Where did the time go ?

Well after a mixed start to the year, I am pleased to say that the public in general seem to be enjoying the Danny and the Weaver. It is working well for the ship and volunteers now. Delighted to report some of our later cruises, especially the Gin cruises have sold out and we now have a waiting list. Here are some images from a very enjoyable year on the Weaver through to a stunning Autumn. IMG_3522.JPG IMG_4152.JPG IMG_4117.JPG
