BARRY TOURIST RAILWAY - BIG SCALE MODEL RAILWAY EXHIBITION

The Barry Tourist Railway are holding their first 'Big Barry, Big Scale Model Railway Exhibition' on Sat 27th July (10.30 - 16.30).

The modelling show, which will be officially opened at 10.30hrs by Councillor Lis Burnett, is to be held in our large main station building and under our 60 metre canopy on one of our platforms. We also intend to officially open our permanent outdoor Gauge 3 running track where live steam trains will be running courtesy of Gauge 3 Society members.

The exhibition focusses on Gauge 3 and G-Scale model railways which use 63.5mm Standard Gauge and 45mm Narrow Gauge Tracks. These are the biggest scenic model railway scales and a mixture of electric and live steam propulsion will be in evidence on the day.

Barry Island Station is served by the 3-trains per hour Arriva Trains service and there is ample parking nearby.

We have an excellent café at Barry Island Station and our facilities all have full disabled access.

Our vintage railcar set, IRIS II will be operating on the Barry Tourist Railway tracks offering shed visits en-route and combined model exhibition and Tourist Railway tickets are available. Trains operate from Barry Island Station at 11.45, 13.30, 14.30 & 15.30. Return journey takes approx 45 mins.

    Admission prices are as follows:-

    Entrance to the Exhibition only:

    Adults £3
    Children (under 16) £2

Combined Exhibition and Barry Tourist Railway Return Tickets

    Adults £7
    Children £4
    Combined Family Tickets £20

We're giving people the option to just attend the modelling show or a 'combined' ticket giving entry to both the modelling show and a return ride on the Barry Tourist Railway for a discount compared with buying separate tickets to both.

It is planned to make this an annual event in the future.
