[Sep 17, 2016] Dean Forest Railway - National Railcar Convention 17/18th Sept (Lydney)

This year, the Dean Forest Railway is proud to be hosting the National Railcar Convention.

On Saturday, our own DMUs will be joined by a very special visitor called 'Iris'. Iris is a unique diesel railcar, being the oldest of the operational first generation DMU's still remaining.

We are also running an evening 'Scenic Supper Special', with a fish and chip supper served on board the train.

On Sunday, the Forest Prairie steam locomotive, 5541, will be joining the DMUs and Iris for a delightful blend of steam and diesel.

In addition to Iris' visit for the Railcar Gala weekend, she will also be doing a very special tour of the line on Saturday 24th September, where she will not only be running along the full length of the line, but also onto some of the track not normally used by passenger services.

Tickets can be purchased on the DFR website , or on the day at Norchard or Parkend stations, or from the travelling ticket inspector on board the trains.
