Billie makes four active Barnes locos (Joan, Billie, Michael and Railway Queen) with a fifth (Billy) on display. Billie was last used for passengers at Dudley Zoo and returned to use on Sunday prior to their gala on 23/24 Sept.]]></content:encoded>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[The project to restore and reopen the 15 inch gauge railway at haigh hall, wigan is coming on well and to this end the Haigh woodland railway association have launched an appeal to restore a pair of 1914 pattern Hudson victory skips for use on the railway in both practical and demonstration use, this work is being undertaken by a contractor and with some volunteer imput.<br />
To this end they are seeking to raise £1500 with the promise of matchfunding if this is achieved...<br />

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[I’ve read that construction of Winston Churchill and Dr Syn was started at Davey Paxman’s, like the majority of the RH&amp;DR steam locomotives, before they were finished as Canadian outline Pacifics at the Yorkshire Engineering company.<br />

Were they intended to be Canadian outline from the outset? Or were they started at Paxman’s with the intent of having a British outline like the other Romney engines?]]></content:encoded>
