      <content:encoded><![CDATA[In my forty three year signalling career I have saved from the skip a few signalling brochures from days gone bye. One of those brochures covers the new signalling arrangements at Leeds New (City) station commissioned on the 5th April 1937 by the London and North Eastern Railway in conjunction with the Westinghouse Brake and Signal Co.       <content:encoded><![CDATA[92 years ago today the River Thames, swollen for a week by melting snow and heavy rain and coinciding with an exceptionally high incoming tide and a storm surge from the North Sea, burst its banks in the early hours of 7th January 1928. Worst affected were the slums on the Westminster side of Lambeth Bridge where 10 of the 14 people who drowned lost their lives. Those killed almost exclusively were poor people and domestic servants living in crowded basement accommodation who were simply...<br />

A bit of a long shot, but I wonder whether anybody may be able to help?<br />

I am presently writing an article on the architecture of the Southern Railway for submission to an academic journal. One of the stations I refer to is Polsloe Bridge Halt, on the Exmouth branch. It would help me enormously if I could include a picture of the station in the article but alas, I have never yet had the opportunity to visit Exmouth myself, and I have not managed to find any public-domain...<br />

      <title>6202 Turbomotive/46202 Princess Anne</title>

      <content:encoded><![CDATA[he Turbomotive was a modified Princess Royal Class steam locomotive designed by William Stanier and built by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway in 1935. It used turbines instead of cylinders. It was later rebuilt as a conventional locomotive 46202 Princess Anne.<br />
<br />
When a turbine failure occurred in 1949 it was considered uneconomic to repair during post-war austerity measures, so the locomotive was taken out of service pending a rebuild.<br />
