Well you wont quite see them together in the station platforms - I'm off to look at the sectional appendix and try and relate this info to physical viewing points.
Looks like Rugby Udt Signal Rn4184 is the passing spot, albeit 46233 will be stationary.

Having endured it many times with VT to access the northern WCML, Sutton Park can never be described as a bonus, horrid stagger that takes far longer than other routes north.

Getting Bittern at Bletchley, MK then Rugby, and the Duchess at Rugby and Northampton/Long Buckby. Might do the Duchess at MK and Rugby for the return then Bittern at Rugby and MK.

Well I know it's a long way round, but from a railway interest point of view, and being freight only, it could be a bonus for some is what I meant. Possibly I'm a little biased as I grew up very close to Sutton Park so I do have a bit of a soft spot for the route. Have travelled on it a number of times since, behind steam and diesel. Always enjoy the journey and seeing the landmarks from which I used to see freight trains back in the 70s and 80s, : )

Fair do, each to their own and all that, just not much fun being an hour into a railtour and having only made Walsall.

Calculated 86.5 miles of new track Derby-Rugby via Sutton Park from my perspective. It could have been another two miles extra if it was run as planned at 88.5, as it would have probably gone through Walsall anyway to get to New Street via Hamstead and Winson Green. However, 338 miles altogether, so not complaining. Will definitely 'clear' 46233 for 1 on this trip (I need 5 miles- currently on 995), and will also have a third into my next 1k miles behind it.

I've always wanted to travel behind steam through, Sutton Park, or behind any other traction. Hopefully there will be a service to from Sutton Walsall to in the future !

Your faith in them not running to Railtour Standard Time is highly commendable.

Reinstating Sutton Park and Camp Hill pax services is being proposed by Brum council, but then it has been for years along with 3 new tram routes and bringing back Stourbridge - Walsall with diddly squat progress on any of them.

UK steam shows "Diesel at rear" on the way back, and presumably it will be the same in the morning so the diesel's there for the ECS working from Euston.

One might therefore expect the train to run via the Erewash Valley and Long Eaton and to reverse at Derby, but RTT shows it going via Ambergate both ways, which implies some extra shunting at Derby.

Did anyone work out where the signal at Rugby where 46233 will be held actually is

I suspect it is just short of the platforms but any thoughts gratefully received

Indeed, I was looking at RN4184 this very lunchtime. Its the far (if stood on plat 5 looking at the signalling centre) goods loop (called up and down through siding) guarding the points onto the up goods loop and then the running line short of platform 6

There's a bridge to the north of the station, which seems to cover the loop and has a view from of the down platform, I was thinking that may be not such a bad spot, looking at the map, if correct the signal is just south of the bridge for 46233...
    Anyone know ?

In theory it should be easily possible to see the Duchess twice, on the Derby - Water Orton leg then the Stechford - Rugby leg before legging it over to the Trent Valley for the A4.

Yes, I know if you mean the footbridge. Checked it out yesterday. There is 12 foot high 2inch square mesh grating in the way, and the view through the OHLE is non existent. Its a nightmare.

Skip got shifted, nice display of whistles (inc skip and pendo at speed).

Bittern showed the midlander how it's done in the departure stakes , slipped out and put on a good show.
The duchess despite having a lump on the back was blowing off nicely
