Which may go some way to explaining why it ran hot?

Stop being facetious, in my post earlier today I merely stated I was surprised that 73096 left with her coupling rods on! In my head its one more thing to run hot and cause problems.

No one is being facetious. If you run something that is normally balanced, out of balance, you are changing its characteristics, and introducing different parameters.

Ok sorry I didn't mean that to sound aggressive! Anyway its just interesting to see that the powers that be chose to tow the two locos in different configurations of rods on or off.

Without the "shadow" of JB hanging over them....... and finally consign the whole sorry saga to history. ;)

I'm still curious as to whether all the various bits of his loco's have actually gone - as last I heard rather large chunks were still taking up the Chippies workshop van at Medstead - makes things a tad cramped!

I don't think 34016 would've got as far as she did with rods on, given that being the stubborn West Country girl she is, she didn't exactly want to move Oop North seeing as she thought Rugby was far enough and promptly "sat down"!

Never mind the fact that trying to run her in a 95mph consist, was probably not the sensible of ideas.......

Some of you are quite angry and vindictive.

I cant see what is angry or vindictive about either of these posts?

Hurricane is expressing a hope and Black 5 is enquiring about something which is really very good news - another TSO.

I know one person who was very active on the MHR and moved to the Bluebell primarily because of the previous situation at the MHR. So at least the departure of 73096 will be symbolic for some folk whilst probably not making one jot of difference to how the railway continues to conduct its business in the grand scheme of things. That's a positive statement by the way just in case it's misunderstood!

The word closure springs to mind.

A blot on the MHRs history can finally be said to be done and dusted. At least we know all the locos have a future elsewhere. 2 of which belong on the ML and the other 3 on a railway that suits the usage of 3 moguls.

The future is bright for MHR locos with 76017, 34105, both S15s coming back. 41312 as well.

    The loco roster has now been updated for December;

45379 & 92212 working the Santa's and 45379 working the Christmas Dining trains (925 is the reserve). Looking forward to Christmas Dinner on the 20th :)
Always a highlight of my year as the Staff and volunteers make it a great evening out.

45379 & 92212 also working the services after Christmas (Christmas Leave event).

I take it that ladder is "posed" as it doesn't look safe or tied off...............

In other news, away from motive power........ the cattle van conversion continues apace, and I hope/believe - will be ready for the "Spring" Gala, and the BY van (c) 653 trundles along......... maybe they're waiting until The Bulleids are complete......... NOT!!

    It's semi posed ;-)

I had been up that ladder 5 minutes before the photo. I had just untied and laid it down but put it back up again it for the photo to help show the height of the loco.

Have you heard if the 9F has been looked at since she retired early from the RAT last night?
