Do you mean the team that restored 34067 then lost the cork on it's first main line run - but then I'm biased as I'm partial to the pair of Class 57/3s that replaced it !

OK, one quote was enough, thank you! and points taken........

    I'm not knocking anyone.

I'm just baffled as to why she seems to spent more time at Carnforth being worked on, than actually working down South, given that by all accounts work was done on the bottom end after "that" incident last year..... and Richard S is right, lets get back OT.............. ;)

To be fair, there was one longish period last year, before the big end came apart, when it was the only loco down south, and it got a fair old pounding. On balance I would say Britannia and Ollie are crook just as often.

I for one am grateful, one of my favourite engines. The sight and sound of Tangmere attacking Hemerdon, which she did four times in September, is hard to beat. (Sorry for keeping off topic).

The problem of growing old - you remember things that others either wish to forget or hope that no-one else remembers !:)

There may of been as now could be better team further south again! But I'm also bias too! ;):D

However, all the main restoration players on the mainline scene have various strengths depending on the various company locomotive classes being restored and operated. This is down to some people having the specialised knowledge on the set up of individual locomotives better than others regardless who they work for.

As I understand it the same instruction applies at Reading, no loaded trains to be held on the incline.
Even with just the support coach it was a fair old dig up to the station.
    Shame about her for Saturday.

Maybe this is recent / for the north side. Restarts on the south side gradient have been observed in the past.

i wonder, how long before you see 34067 rostered only to find a std 5 instead , or Tangmeres bigger sister :) or even maybe a double header of any of the above

I'm sorry Fred, but I get the impression that many diesel fans would be with Spamcan81 on your tastes from comments I have seen in "another place"!!

    Steven

(As a pure aside, great to see my first attempt at typing taste ("tatses") brought forth a suggestion of "tatties" from Google Crome - a spell checker that thinks anything ending in "ise" should be "ize" but still knows a Scots "Tattie" when it thinks it sees one - I did check that Google didn't have another meaning and found this - http://sco.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tattie - Scotland's own Wikipedia!)

So where does that place me if I say I'm also partial to 10000; Class 14; Class 28; class 31; Class 33; Class 44 / 45 / 46; Class 52; Class 56; Class 73; Class 74; Class 76; Class 77; Class 89; Class 92 - remembering that my experiences of some of these classes goes back as far as 1957 ?

Only 1957, wow didn't realise you were that young Fred, I'd been taking in the delights of the north end of Crewe platforms for several years by then.
