Nice photos and video. So Far.

Only spoiled a likkle bit cos the locos are not filthy dirty!

PS. Sincere apologies to support crews etc who have worked their socks off getting the locos clean. Maybe even used their socks to give the final glint! Its just that I like to see them as I remember them in 1967.

Looks like something odd happened on the climb to Savernake with plenty of time lost and a significant delay to the following FGW service to Plymouth. Hopefully it was a network problem rather than anything down to the charter.

The delay at Woodborough was two fold. The train was stopped because it had set off a hotbox detector that needed investigating and also the signal had failed to add to the fun...

Here are the black twins passing Ash and then just past Newbury, where I filmed standing on the trackbed of the old Didcot Newbury Southampton railway line :)

The road bridge over the old line, complete with smoke stains, can be seen below:

Some video stills from Reading, Oldfield Park and Chippenham. Absolutely bombing it past in the last shot. With any luck the video should be up later tonight.

There's a small park just next to the bus garage in Reading, where the Berks and Hants line trains runs by. Windier than I'd expected which affects the video sound but the engines were rather ambling as a Basingstoke stopper was just in front. Too many trees in the way aswel, but good to hear the Stanier hooters before the train came into sight !!

Ah, the joys of the hot box detector. Sorry for digression but some years back I was on a steam trip in France with a 231K when we were stopped for no apparent reason. Later during the trip the message got back to us that the conversation between driver and signalman at the red light had gone thus:
Driver - Why have you stopped us?
Signalman - You have a hot box on your train.
Driver - Where is the hot box?
Signalman - On the sixth axle from the front.
Driver - I am driving a steam locomotive and that is the fire.

KristianGWR - very nice video work. You had better weather than us in the Surrey Hills! Surprised to see significant slipping on departure from Reading with well over 50,000lbs of tractive effort to play with - well caught. Also; nice to see a liberal interpretation of 60mph in the last scene (and at Goring in Hampstead's video)!

In the Surrey Hills the dirty weather made up for the clean locos (see my shot at Betchworth)!

completely forgot about this last night, whilst on my way home i was looking on RTT at my connections and saw it was 3 mins from bearing down on me at Streatham Common so bailed from my train and captured this with my iPhone, whilst happy with the result, my next train turned into one of those "terminating before it's destination" trains and ended at Selhurst.. dumping me there for 45 minutes.. got home at midnight.

Any idea where the sparks under 45407 are coming from in this clip?
