First steam to stop at Sandy since 1963 I believe, and I'm at work. If it had been a week earlier, as originally planned, it would've been my journey home from work!

4464 departed Sandy just a couple of minutes late in full dull. Lovely sight and sound though and the first steam passenger departure from Sandy (GN) since 1963 IIRC.

Certainly in the East Midlands the local media has suddenly got interested in steam trains, reporting the times of the York train and the Lincoln trains on Saturday. Not sure if just chance at a slow news time or if they have been sent press releases.

Yes, quite a crowd as shown at the end of this clip. Surprising as it was cold and drizzly.

Good to see steam on the equivalent of a Peterborough semi-fast for the first part of the journey. Saw a couple of strange posts on Facebook. One woman complaining that the steam engine had made it dark inside Peascliffe Tunnel. Dark? In a Tunnel? Whatever next? Another from a rail worker saying steam should only run on Sundays as it had made him finish his shift late. Seems the diesel that had brought in the ECS (a few minutes early by the way) had a problem AFTER 4464 had left KGX. Can hardly blame steam for that.

I liked that clip. Nice and different from a lot of other, (but still good), clips. Really conveyed the atmosphere of the occasion.
