Looks like VT & RTC are going to be invading the City on Saturday!

4965 "Rood Ashton Hall" from Tyseley is set to arrive about an hour before 60009 from Kings Cross. We will be departing an hour earlier too, but that leaves a good few hours with the two locos side by side in the sidings.

Don't know about RTC, but we still have a few seats in Standard and Enthusiast classes if anyone wants to join us.

Will it be possible to get a picture of both locomotives side by side at lincoln?

It wasn't possible last year. Both locos and stock were in Terrace Sidings, but the locos were too far apart to get a decent photo. Best bet is probably to try to get a shot from Pelham Bridge (the road bridge between the station and the sidings) as there'a a high wall alongside the sidings.

This year, both locos will at be facing in the same direction (after we turn 4965). Both will be smokebox towards the station.

A word of caution. The Lincoln Christmas Fayre attract a huge number of visitors with a large proportion arriving by train. The station will be closed to non-passengers.

There is no public access to the Terrace Sidings; nor can you view them over the tall fence. Please use common sense and don't find yourself somewhere you shouldn't be.

    Quote RTC

"Look out for Father Christmas and his Elves who will be visiting the train during the day and handing out presents to all children on board. Please let us know your child’s age when booking."

Ok which ones of you who steward on these tours is admitting to being rostered as an Elf?

We are all kids at heart but some are more childish than others as proved many times on here. Get your short trousers on for this one!

Are the terrace sidings west of the high street level crossings?

No. 9 passed Hornsey at 9.18 on down fast, followed a couple of minutes later by 47760 top and tail 47854 on the up slow with a Doncaster to Canterbury charter. No diesel on the Lincoln charter.

If they won't let you on the platform as a non-passenger, buy a return ticket to the nearest station. That will get you through the barrier!

I was there two years ago and they had a queuing system. No access to the platform until your train was due. That was in the evening so not sure if in place all day.

Poor filming from us today, but a superb sound up Arley Bank, made the trip worthwhile.

A return ? A single ticket to the next station would be cheaper ! I had to do that at Loughborough, last month !
