Last Saturday was the annual Ensign vintage bus running day based on the bus station at Lakeside Shopping Centre near Thurrock in Essex. The usual gems, including 1940 built, RT8, were on offer.
An excellent day out in the sun and if you are interested in seeing my photos of this event they can be found here http://paulgildersleve.smugmug.com/...ember/46216456_rmCWX7#!i=3748346957&k=FDJcTfJ

    Regards,

    Paul

Hmn, gems as you say although I'm not impressed with the white trim )front and rear) on the RT8. A bit like the Finsbury Park Deltics with the white painted cabs. Just my opinion, unnecessary.

    Thanks for your comments.
I think the white paint is wartime livery, not that I'd remember that of course.

the white paint was for running in blackout conditions. Very period and totally correct

Great pics Paul. I've often thought I'd like to attend an event such as this in the London Area. Very doable with a few weeks notice. Is there a site that lists them in advance?
