    Lovely stuff, especially Corston. It amazes me how many people have their artificial shutter sounds on their cameras turned on, spoiling the silence as the train approached. What is the point of them!?

    Especially when they use 'machine gun' mode in an attempt to get the perfect shot.

    Not a lot you can do about it on a DSLR as you still get mirror noise. Some can be set to "quiet" mode but that reduces rather then eliminates the sound of the mirror going up and down.

    :oops::oops:

    I have tried turning mine off, but can't. But in any case the ratchet inside the camera makes more noise than the shutter when I wind the film on quickly.

    You think that you've got a problem. By the time I've lined up the shot, sorted the plate out and then ducked my head back under the black hood, the train has gone by.

    You jest but during the Dampfspetakel back in May/June I saw a guy with just such a camera on the line side.

    Looks like a female hand coming out from under that black sheet. Reckon he'd got a BSW under there with him. :)
