    Good one Henry.

So, for next year, every support coach will have the chorus on a continuous loop on a CD to be played loudly at destination stations as the train rolls in. :)

Barely a breath of wind, clear blue sky above me, the sun just above the horizon, nice and cold and an A4 on the ECML. What could go wrong? A bank of cloud on the horizon that's what. Some light was coming through the thinner bits of cloud to lift the scene slightly but another "what might have been" occasion. 4464 heads north from Sandy with the Christmas White Rose to York.

Yes, by the time I got back to the car the sun had emerged from the cloud bank, but just too late.

So much for me thinking "if only I'd gone to Offord, she'd have been in sun". Feel slightly less disappointed now.

Footage of both Christmas White Roses at Copmanthorpe & Chaloners Whin, neither shot of which went to plan as such. Also includes a shot of 34092 on the Worth Valley Santa Specials this afternoon.

Nipped out this morning on the bridge between Uffington an Barholm. Very nice on that slight incline on a cold morning, but why a Diesel on the back? Really, is the answer 'just because'?

Surely this reliable loco, on this flat run, on this dry day, on a very slack route (6 hours for the return I think), there is no justifiable reason to have a diesel on the back, let alone with the engine running.

Have you considered the possibility that the 47 was there for ETH? I don't like boxes on the back but I like even less travelling in unheated stock on a cold winters day.

Isn't the WC steam tour stock dual heated, ie steam & electric? There have been many videos on here showing steam tours obviously being steam heated including ones hauled by Bittern using the maroon WC stock.

There was a discussion about this elsewhere - I forget exactly where though so can't provide a link - and somebody posted that only one WCRC rake at Southall is capable of being steam heated. Can anyone confirm this?
