The (Southall) set that SD uses is dual heated, or at least, it definitely has steam heat. I don't think that yesterday's set to York was the SD set and you could see from the videos, especially your one, that there were no signs of leaking steam along the train - so the diesel must have been providing ETH.

I thought WCR stock had no working heating at all? or lights, or PA.

Although it was not working in all coaches on the Cath Ex to Bath on 2/12. Aimee and Carol were giving out blankets to those who were feeling the cold.

Did the Lindum Fayre two years ago and our table plus the one next to us ended up dining by candle light as even the emergency lighting failed. The Mrs. thought it was quite romantic.

Nope. I was awaiting the scene with the staff as she had a damn good moan but was pleasantly surprised when she didn't.

At least they don't spend 3 hours at Leamington taking dodgy air-cons out.

Fast forward to around 0.35 and look at the steam leaks on the coaches. I bet the punters on that train were warm despite the leaks.

The punters inside were freezing, but the support crew outside were steamy warm.

I had one set pass me recently and there was more hissing steam noises from the hose couplings than the loco!

Most of the stock may be dual heated but sometimes there may be a coach in the set that is only electric so there is no alternative but to use that and a diesel. Anyway the electric is also far more effective and reliable.
