MHR PTS tickets are only given to volunteers that are required to work lineside has part of their duties. If your duties don't require you to go lineside. You won't get a PTS.

    You'd be surprised..................

Anyway, I was down yesterday, and the one thing that struck me, driving along the A31 between Alton & Four Marks is the amount of tree felling that has taken place - you can actually see the line!

The downside being, of course, that when you sit on the train, you can see the A31 :(

Noticed 70000 was in a green cocoon on Saturday night when travelling on the final Christmas Dining train of 2014. I hope she makes it for the Gala. She also has a number of ML trips appearing on the schedule for 2015.
Had a great evening on the Dining train with the volunteers providing a wonderful experience. It took our minds briefly off the terrible news we had just received before travelling down as we were told of the sudden death of a great friend. Thanks to all involved for cheering us up.

At least you can now actually see something, as opposed to traveling through a "green tunnel"!

Actually, from the train, the "view" of the A31 isn't that bad, to do that you have to look down, but if you look level you actually see rolling countryside. :)

I would have thought that all staff would have to pass a PTS course. Could be useful in case of emergencies etc.

No, only staff that need to go lineside are accepted on to the course. You require a signed PTS course form from your line manager and you also need to have a in date volunteers work permit before you can take the course.

I noticed the view was improving in certain locations at the Gala and again at the 9F photo charter. Sounds like they have cleared further trees and shrubs since.

Lineside volunteers have been hard at work between Ropley and Medstead clearing banks and one or two volunteers have been cutting back from Ropley station towards Northside line. There's also been a large clearance taking place at Medstead station from Lymmington bridge to the station on the upside. Another big area that's been cleared this year is from Chalton woods back to Chawton roundabout.

Just where are they going to put that?..... does it mean us lowly soles in the Wagon Group get a more "modern" and larger space than out grounded van body?.......... :) or have we been Gazumped?........ :(

    You're not wrong there!

I had a shufty yesterday, the word "brutal" springs to mind........

All I know is all this tree felling is long over due, and has no doubt cost a pretty penny.

The later in particular will improve the views, since as stated by Duty Druid had become a green tunnel.

    Just like yours then..............

Though I do wonder who he is, as I was M4M yesterday & his photo of the 9F running in, doesn't prick the memory, as to who was on the down platform..... though I did head home just after midday.....;)

If I make it to the gala, we could have a locoyard group shot, that'd scare the wotsits out of everyone! :)
