Sapper has been running on the East Lancs Railway for several years and is very popular there. When you saw her she would be on her way back to the ELR after a short hire to the NYMR for use on their Santa trains.

Seems a roundabout from the NYMR to the ELR.
Was the M62 shut or something?

I saw this loco this morning heading south on the M42 near junction 3. If the driver was going from the NYMR to the ELR he was going a very long way round indeed.

132 Sapper is/was due a Piston & Valve exam which will be undertaken before return to the ELR. There were various options for this being sorted by the owner of which a visit to South Wales was one.
