I've been a railway enthusiast for nearly 11 years and it may seem i ask this question quite a bit asking fellow fans of railways if anyone had news or recent photographs of forgotten engines of preservation the ones tucked away awaiting the turning of their wheels, the fires in their bellies.

So as i maybe visiting a few new railways this year i was wondering if anyone had any news, sightings or recent pictures of the engine in question that is LMS Jinity 47564.

Many thanks and with kind regards if anybody can help me out.

    YRM.

This was how it looked at the Midland Railway Centre in 2013. I don't imagine much has changed since.

Wasn't there an offer by the NNR to take this on long term loan for restoration that was turned down? A crying shame if that was the case, as it doesn't look to have much of a future at the MRC.

I recall some talk a good while ago that the loco was to be used as the basis for construction of a MR 3F 0-6-0 tender goods loco. Presumably that project never got of the ground.

The Midland Railway-Butterley stock book described 47564 as "a spare boiler and a set of frames". Given they also have 47327 working, 47357 under overhaul and 47445 under restoration, you can’t see any reason for them to throw money at 47564 as well, sad as it may be.

Easy enough. The frame is at the far end of the Swanwick Junction site, near the Diesel depot, the photo is looking back towards the GVLR shed and the Demonstration Signal Box (the Midland Railway-Butterley website has a plan of the site showing those buildings).

In which case, selling those bits and pieces of 47564 to the North Norfolk Railway sounds likea very good idea. Surprising that the MR(B) wasn't interested.

I can imagine them wanting to hang on to a spare boiler.

Combined with the fact that Derby Council owned the Jinties, not MR (B)
