Excellent news. Getting the D49 will be a master stroke in my opinion. Will be nice to see Ring Haw back on home ground (almost).

Could be a good'un, so long as ring haw gets a proper diagram, not '4 wagon freight to Orton mere then brake van rides'!

I was rather hoping that they'd reopen Nassington Quarry for the event. :)

Not sure celebration is the right word to use to mark the 50th anniversary of the closure of the depot, but I still might pay a visit.

Using the word "celebration" in its broader sense is quite appropriate for this event, i.e.
    mark, commemorate etc.
In other news, the N2 was stuck in Loughborough shed yesterday and our team was told it had failed (no details given) and wouldn't be ready in time for this event.

Celebrate is used these days as a word indicating a positive thing, even if it may have come from a more neutral origin. Much better to use mark or something similar.

There we are, corrected it for you. I'd demand a refund from your English teacher if I were you. :) Can't believe you're nit picking over the wording of the advert for the event when a much more serious matter has arisen in the form of news of the N2's failure.

Now now a locomotive failure is surely par for the course; much more serious is such as a repaint from Apple Green to Brunswick Green or a return to BR Lined Black and numbered 69523 since that would generate many more pages of "expert" critique !

    Should nit-picking be hyphenated?

EDIT: Apparently it's one word, so we were both wrong!

An N2 in BR green would generate quite a bit of froth. :)
