43106 and 76017 would be an interesting combo....
Anyway, fingers crossed for an early return for 41312, will be nice to see here on the MHR freight again, or with a couple of Bulleids and a PMV/CCT in tow

who owns 44123 now? if the owners wished to bring the loco to Ropley to restore it, is there anything to prevent them from doing it? are any of the shareholders persona non grata as far as the MHR are concerned if the answer is no, then the balls in their court

Don't think that's too much of an issue. The MHR had 5 locos leave last year.
Perhaps a more able description is works capacity, seems like the MHR have a pretty busy few years ahead.

6 surely. But none that were under cover, so space to work on anything new must be at a premium.

I realise that this is a thread in the Steam traction section, but does anyone know the latest on the restoration of the Class 27 diesel at Medstead? Any idea when it is likely to be finished and what its future is likely to be?

Try looking them up on Facebook, under 'Southern Sulzer Group'
I do know they're looking for volunteers. so if you want to see the 27 in action, now's your chance to step up.
If you're interested, PM me and I can send you the project managers email.

Led to believe once it's overhaul is completed it will stay on the railway. Last I heard about the loco the overhaul is going well but the project manager is looking for help with the loco.

Thanks for the update. My son was a volunteer on the loco and is now in Uganda on his gap year. Hopefully it will be back running by the time he is back in August.

I had a look at the loco today from the service train and noticed both cabs are completey stripped out. The only part of the cabs left is the frame work. I did hear today the engine will need removing to allow the engine room floor to be renewed. Can't wait to see it once it's completed and back in traffic.

I'm looking at visiting the MHR tomorrow afternoon for an hour or so and was wondering which locomotive was running today? I see on the MHR 'preservation' site that 850 is the rostered locomotive for this week but was wondering if it's problems on Saturday and Sunday had been sorted?

    Thanks in advance!

850 not running. 45379 is rostered for the weekend with 34007 as reserve.

Does anyone have any news on how 92212 is coming on?
I wasn't around yesterday, but I understand that Wadebridge acquitted herself well in the evening, so the work over the winter has stood her in good stead.

Slowly? Err not at all. A complete set of superheaters have been manufactured tested and fitted since the start of the year. The smokebox is having the petticoat and blastpipe refitted today. The loco could be available for traffic as soon as the weekend coming, but the plan is hopefully not to need it, then we can tackle a few other jobs before Thomas week.

It was just a guess, given the lack of info!

Good to hear she's going to be fit & ready for action. :)
