SO I have read various comments on the forum about RTC and the Winter tours which links also to 45699 and its availability for the tour.
Is this loco going to be available, if not what might replace it???

There are a set of timings that are already on RTT.
The RTC Website doesn't reflect these so one wonders if they have been accepted?

There is a month to go and much will no doubt take place in the meantime.
45699 was reported in steam a couple of weeks ago so no reason to think it won't be ready. If it isn't, well there is always 46115 or even 46233.
Assuming the minor hiccup with 45690 is resolved it should run with the advertised motive power.

The two sets of time don't seem to far apart, as to 6233 being used on it, I would think that it's much more likely to be double headed using West Coast locos.

I really hope that it is the pair of jubilee's as i should if it is be heading up to either York or Manchester but if 46115 is involved i wouldn't mind it as she is on my list of engines to see aswell

Gauging issues nothing larger than a black 5 on the Calder Valley route, does this limit still stand?

I though Jubilee's were also passed for this route from either read it here or elsewhere.

At this stage there is nothing to suggest it won't be 2 Jubilees and the route was announced way back so it seems reasonable to infer no problem.
The other possible requirement for the 5Xs is the 75mph running that may be required to keep time on the ECML especially.
Its a wait and see, as usual.

Is there anything more known about which return route from York will actually be taken? Might it be via Hellifield to drop the steam off?

There's nothing to suggest that the Steam will come off early, even more so by another water stop at Brighouse 25 miles later, although you question whether they will actually use that. Would it be possible to get from Milford Loop to Preston via Manchester without stopping for water?

Well there isn't another stop long enough for water in the RTT timings, but remember even though they are on RTT, it does not make them the final times.

Not a long time in Carlisle if the RTT departure time from Carlisle is right at 12.36 ? Just hope there's not much of a queue in the chippy and pub then......

That's no bad thing ;) Hopefully, this trip will allow me to see the back of Carlisle for a bit, having already done four out of the five routes radiating out of the city... As with the 'Tin Bath', this trip is excellent value for money with some interesting stretches of track.

Im hoping it's double jubilee's as im booked on this run and also as I was robbed of riding behind Leander cause of her failing on Carnforth shed before Jan 24th's WCME, so far neither jubilee has done a test run this year and it's just over 3 weeks till the big day arrives.

Me too, but a test run is not required annually, if they were put away after their last runs mechanically sound, then a steam test and FTR exam is all that is required.
