But going from Moylesy98s' point of view, I think his worries like mine are more to the fact that 'Leander' has had no serious test runs or running in, or Galatea for that matter. It doesn't matter at this point if it's not required that Leander doesn't have a test run, it's the fact that it's not even had any 'bedding in' period as it were, and it blatantly shows; when the time came for her debut back on the mainline - she failed. Makes me really cross to be honest, throughout the noughties 'Leander' gave nothing short of exceptional service to the likes of the ELR.... I'm sure everyone knows were I'm going with that point!

A leaking Boiler Washout plug is hardly a serious failure, it would have been fixed in a very short space of time. With regard to your 1st point, most test runs out of Carnforth only come after heavy maintenance has been undertaken on a locomotive. I'm sure in the next couple of weeks 45699 probably will have a test run as work has been done on it recently; If there is no booked work before the Hadrian then there is no point in having a test run weeks before it actually works any tour.

Better to be safe than sorry! What if they undertook a test run 2 days before the tour and then found there were problems that would take more than 2 days to repair - then they'll be sorry!

It is with great disappointment, that due to the dilligence of my fellow traveller, it now appears that there is/are to be motive power change(s) to this tour. There has now been a path added on RTT early on the 7/3 from the ELR to Carnforth, also a return path from Brighouse to Castleton hopwood gf. that starts at 7.18pm on the same day (the train arrives Brighouse 7.11pm) I will leave the speculation to this forum, but will add, was it ever intended for this train, or indeed the first WCME to be headed by two Jubilee's ?

No doubt there will be a full and honest disclosure from the relevant parties to those affected at the earliest opportunity should the advertised motive power not in fact be available.
Or could work on the basis that no news is good news.
Coincidentally the latest RTC brochure dropped through the door yesterday. This tour is still advertised with 2 Jubilees. If that is not what is now planned it is a shabby way to do business because there is the opportunity to include an addendum with the mailing.
the Hadrian 6th April is 46115 according to brochure not 60009 as previously listed.

It would be wise both locos to run separate test runs in my opinion. Galatea ran a very successful test run prior to her first wcme last year. Is the confidence not there?

I swear I hope that Leander doesn't have the same thing happen because 45407+DSL would not be good when it comes down to rytc advertising of this tour. I hope the passengers get 2 engines at the front of their train.

Any reason given for the, ahem, sudden change?
Probably one of the least surprising turn of events. Relieves workshop pressure at Carnforth and leaves WCR to market the 2 Jubs in house at a later date with RTC having built the anticipation.

Which most likely means that Leander will be working from Brighouse to Preston Solo...

Bit odd to get someone elses loco in Danny when Guardsman is due to work a week later !
Perhaps 46115 could be out of gauge at some location on the route though .

Already advertised by RTC as deputizing for 60009 on the next Hadrian, although a slightly different route I think ?

Think 46115 might be barred from Calder Valley.
Its not such a surprising change. It was rumoured before Christmas that neither of the advertised double headers would run as per brochure due to winter maintenance requirements.
Still a double header though and matching liveries.

It's still not been announced on RTC's website regarding loco allocations.
