I hope it is able to come, as I think it is one of the locos which is distinguishing this from a normal gala!

Unfortunately 92212 isn't going to be ready in time for the gala. 6880 group have found a very suitable alternative and will be making an announcement in due course when contracts and what not are finalised.

Unfortunately these things happen, but those behind the gala have been busy to sort out the situation.

Well, by my reckoning the only other 9f available will be 92214, so it will be interesting to see the announcement. I would have thought it won't be too long until any announcement as it is now less than two weeks away!

I spoke to Dave Owen on Friday. He told me 92212 wouldn't be coming and that they were hoping to get 92214.

Sometime this week I'm led to believe, as soon as all the i's are dotted and t's are crossed I can imagine.

214's a beast! It should cough a bit up to Berwyn! It also looks rather nice in Green!. Dont knock it till you've seen it!

She looked stunning on the 2 days I spent photing her on the SVR. I'm going bashing both Fridays and assisting with the filming of the DVD on the Saturdays. I'm in the box in the goods junction on one of the Saturdays filming. I'm looking forward to the night trains. I'll probably go on them every night.

Why not? It'd be cheaper than a B+B!

I live locally but the night trains are awesome, like at the SVR.

I do avoid paying for a B&B at the SVR. I'm never sure whether it's acceptable to take full sleeping regalia! I'd feel like a plonker if someone found me in a compartment in a sleeping bag. What's weird is waking up at a particularly loud bit of thrash and opening the skylight to enjoy it and, having no idea where i am on the line, going back to sleep!

I must admit steam in the dark is rather magical. Having 92214 with the moonlight picking the detail out on the boiler was rather special, my favorite memory of steam after dark involves 2 black fives out of Carlisle, a storming run over Shap. And a tub of KY Jelly...;-)

Last time I did the all nighter at SVR was in 2009 & somebody barged into my compo at about half 10 on sunday morning a bit too cheerful for my liking then waking me up just as I was drifting off. Never again! A shower a bed and a bacon sarn is only half an hour away at mum and dads!

Its good fun especially watching the sun come up over the safari park. Or changing trains at Arley at 4 in the morning and listening to 7802's whistle echo round the valley. Or the partys in the buffet car Im sure you get the idea!

Or waking up at 4am when they used to terminate the trains at random stations, and being unable to figure out where the hell you are!

Good fun but as my Dad said to me last year 'Son why do you want to stay out all night? We'll have a Captain Cods, a couple of pints in the K+C and you can have and a Bacon Sarn in bed if you fancy it in the morning' my Dad's not a bad Salesman in his other life!
