Even cheekier... I would like to ride behind 4270 & 5199 (not neccessarily together!) but looks like my only availability is Friday 6th March. I can get there as early as I like but would need to be away by 1530ish latest - is it worth my bothering at all?

One person who will know answer to "is it worth my bothering at all"? I think you know the answer its, YOU.
Personally I am planning a first time day trip from Plymouth on Sat. 7th March which we give me about four and a half hours on the railway and I'm certainly looking forward to the experience.

If he knew the answer he wouldn't have asked the question-he's no fool as you would find out if he saw you in a professional capacity. The joys of galas without rosters or even lists of what's running each day. DC wants to go and ride behind 5199 and 4270 and wants to know if that is possible by 1530 on a certain day.
    So should he:
    1)Ask on here.
2)Book a day off work, pay for a brochure to find out if both locos will be running or not.
3)Say sod it go to work and Betton Grange loses a ticket sale.

Without going into detail on what works which train! Both the locos you ask for are possible for haulage before 15.30. So, yes, it is worth bothering with.

There is 2 locos on the night trains. Just say what you'd like to hope it is and I might be able to help. Not going to give it away, but I might be able to say which day would be better for you.

Thank you for the responses - D7076 is right on all counts (as ever!). I shall go into work tomorrow and book a day's leave then. I was planning to head to Carrog to park (which is where I usually head for anyway). Final cheeky question - what time should I be there for to allow ticket buying time? Looking forward to supporting 6880 and Llangollen.

I have been looking at the loco roster on the website, and have noticed that it is different between the first and second weekends. The differences only affect the home fleet and 45231, but it shows:
    6th- 3802, 5199
    7th- 3802, 45231
    8th- 3802, 45231

    13th- 45231, 5199
    14th- 3802, 5199
    15th- 3802, 5199
Is this correct or incorrect, as it contradicts what has been said above and what is one the website as it suggests 5199, is not just running on Fridays, and 45231 is not running every day. (unless 45231 doesn't count as a visitor as it is just replacing 45337?)

Will anything be happening on Thursday 12th? Or just the Fri/Sat/Sun?

That's wrong on the loco roster. Basically 1 spare loco each day. 5199 on both Saturday and Sundays. Black 5 on the first Friday, 3802 on the second Friday.

Home fleet only as spare locos, and visitors are out all days. Black 5 is visitor, but classed as home fleet as its a direct replacement for 337

Private photo charters in the week. Gala only on the fri, sat and sun. Beer fest might be open on the Thursday evenings, but not too sure.

On the first Friday yes. Do try and remember the timetable was written with a home black 5 in mind, and not a visitor.

    Gala guide appeared today.

Nice Little souvenier for the event, A4 size as well.

This time next week it will actually be happening and i'll be there.

    Cant wait!

I can't access my bank account at the moment or I'd buy things online. Can anyone tell me what a day rover will cost on the day? Will programmes be £5.00 on the day like they are online.

All shaping up for the gala now. 3205, 4270 and 45231 now at Llan. 1 half of the 9f and 1450 apparently due in today, the other half of the 9 tomorrow, then wells on Wednesday.
