Oh well, never mind, one day you'll get to see it it in all its glory, BUT the photo charters don;t happen that often, but when they do - book sharpish! - they book up PDQ!

Usually they're Saturdays, but for what ever reason, so far they're Sundays, which suits me! :)

I recently joined the 35006 society and one of the guys kindly sent me this last week which they discovered last weekend whilst dismatling some of 35006. Just goes to show how often and easily Bulleid parts were interchanged.

An old project of mine which got shelved ages ago was seeing if there was at one least component from each member of the class kicking around. (Excluding nameplates) I got about half of them covered just using CanPac and Clan Line. Will have to see if 35006 has many other parts that didn't originally belong to her.

I`m not too sure if this was true but I was led to believe that one of the MHR light pacifics, had motion parts from long scrapped 34002"Salisbury".

Certainly the boiler fitted to 34058 currently, was originally fitted to 34001"Exeter" so is one of the oldest light pacific boilers in preservation I believe.

I believe CanPacs boiler is number 1903 which was originally fitted to 35004 Cunard White Star ..... But dont hold me to that.

It quite clearly states in the excellent book by Richard Derry "The book of the West Country and Battle of Britain Pacifics" that boiler 1266 which according to the records was first fitted to 34001 is now on 34058. 34058 was paired with this boiler on 5/11/1960.

However I maybe stand to be corrected, as upon studying the records, boiler 1261 which is fitted to 34046 in preservation, would logically have been on 34001 from new, it being the lowest build number.

Interestingly the boiler numbers are in the numerically correct build order from 34002-4 but then 34005 was fitted with boiler 1267!

Perhaps boiler 1261 started off then on 34001 for a brief spell, but then boiler 1266 was fitted for a longer spell of 34001's early working life, up until 16/12/1949.

The records from this early period seem to be a little incomprehensive.

That would seem to back up what I was told about Brauntons boiler, amazing how many of the earlier boilers survive!

According to the latest Mid Hants News.

David Snow states that the outcome of the lottery application should be known towards the end of March.

If successful work is not expected to start in earnest until after Easter.

That's the news as I know it as well. Still plenty of stripping down to be done by the Leaping Pensioner Gazelles in the mean time.

You've got your copy of MHN? I live 100 yards from Alresford station, but our copies of MHN seem to arrive weeks after everyone else's, I'll pop up there later and see if the Alresford copies are still waiting to be distributed. My son's subscription copy of the Railway Magazine arried yesterday, so even the post takes time round here in deepest Hampshire.

    Steve,

I received my copy of MHR News today. I see there's a leaflet asking poeple to donate towards a Queen Mary brake van.
