61994 and either 61264 or 62005 are away on The Railway Touring Company's The Buxton Spa Express on Saturday 18th April so they won't be at the nymr on the first weekend of the gala at least

The second best loco in Britain may well be up and about that bit sooner, in that case.

I've seen on other threads that 44871 and 45407 are already at the NYMR, 62005 was reported going by road, anyone got news on 4936, still listed on the NYMR site as an attendee?

It is still hoped that 4936 will make it for the Gala.

I hope so, but gossip on platform end at Grosmont on Wednesday suggested not.

UKsteaminfo has just cancelled the by rail move, but that was to be expected. More curious is a news item on WSR website about 4936 posted this afternoon. Does that mean it cannot even do a guest w/e at a gala?

Sorry 4936 can leave WSR. Not sure how I missed those words on reading the news earlier, especially as I went back to check.

Unfortunately, it sounds as though 4936 can't now make it - failed gauging on the Whitby branch for a rail move.

    That's sad.

But if a rail move was still being progressed until now it appears, who was going to do that move?

I trust 62005 will still get there. It seems to be expected, but no official word that I can see.

There used to be a useful area on the website under Enthusiasts, that gave a snapshot of loco status. It wasn't updated that often, but was sufficient to give a feel of what was going on or planned. Perhaps because updating was erratic it has been removed which is a pity.

Postings on the NYMR Unofficial Forum indicate that 62005 is being delivered by road to Pickering New Bridge today.

I'm meant to be doing the footplate diagrams and I'm told not to expect the loco diagrams until Tuesday!

One of the loudest sounds I've ever heard in my life was Dame Vera Lynn on the 1 in 49!
