Not buy the engines, just they could rent out Halls that are out of service, for example 4920 currently, paint it red shove some false plates on it and only our lot would know. I doubt they would want to buy an engine as that would cost a lot more than just repainting one every few years. The owning group get a loco put indoors, well looked after, and earn a profit, rather than sitting in a siding earning nothing getting damp.

 

Yeah I think it boils down to this. When I heard there are plans already for her to return to mainline action I was thinking it's probably looking too far ahead. Stupid modern day loading gauges!

Swindon products? Wasn't it one of them that rescued Tangmere, plus its train, when it stalled on the bank from Goodrington to Churston.

 

au contraire. If a Hall can do everything its historically been recorded as doing and only weighs 7.5 tons then that Collett must have been a hell of a lot cleverer than most of us give him credit for.

Indeed 7827 made a good job of restarting a stalled 60009 & train on a least one occasion.

 

Also a stalled 'Bittern' and Class 25 at the same time!

I've been told off for pointing out it's 'Olton Hall' by the good lady she then said somthing like 'Actually its Hogwarts Castle' I then pointed out it was a Hall not a Castle then showed her pictures to show her the difference.
