Easy photography wise, i'd say a walk along the river path either side of Arley is pretty good value. Another option is to follow the cycle path from Hampton Loade in the direction of Highley, as the path follows the formation as far as the bottom of Highley bank.

Food wise, the best options for substantial meals i'd say are either the Ship Inn at Highley or Captain Cods in Kiddy. Bridgnorth and Bewdley both have many good pubs though. The Kings Head in Bridgo (high town) and the Mug House in Bewdley (Severnside north) are both good for food and booze alike. The railway's own establishments are well worth supporting too - you wont get a better pint than the Railwayman's Arms on Bridgnorth station, and the King & Castle at Kiddy station is very respectable.

I will be there Saturday and Sunday this weekend, looking at the timetable do the local trains run empty between certain stations and if so at what times? Because they seem to terminate then re-appear later down the line at times! Thanks

I always had a soft spot for 7714 when it was BR Black. I always thought it suited it rather well.

I've mixed feelings about BR black on the western tanks. The panniers and small prairies especially i feel wear it very well, whereas the larger stuff, 56xx & 51xx's for example, i think look rather bleak in plain black.

I'm pleased that 7714 will be back in black though, whilst 813's livery will interest a few when it appears.

Haha! That would be an interesting sight. Unless plans have changed she'll be going in the opposite direction to BR black time wise.

PTR then Im guessing. How fars the Barry Railway coache away? Could do a sort of welsh Titfield Thunderbolt with 813 the Barry coach and a Toad! Anyone up for that?

We could send the Barry wagon over, we're repainting it at the moment, could put it in Barry livery, whatever that may be (or is it - still BR!)

It wouldnt surprise me to see 45110 being used as an apprentice engine. Ie the next load of apprentices will have their skills honed on 45110, rather like the current bunch are working on 4930 along with C&W work. Incidentally 45110 shouldnt need a huge amount of work given the massive amount done before its previous ticket. But back OT. The coal tank has arrived at Bridgnorth.

Back off-thread, IMO 45110 should only go in when the railway has agreed with other loco owners its new policy on overhauls and costs, which SVR News says should be this year (no further comment). I don't think the SVR should spend money on an SVR-owned engine while it has uncrystallised obligations to restore other owners' engines. Apprentices could as easily work on, say, 9303/7325 (or 80079, 47383, 7819, 5764, 5164, 46443, 48773 or 686).

Back on-thread, 3 days to go.

Will anything have to be gauged? I know it sounds a bit silly but just thinking about it. I mean you wouldnt want anything clouting a platform or overbridge on its 1st run would you?
