SVR has Western 4-6-0's so there's not much bigger than them for platform widths. They've also had 6233 and 6201 before, i think they tend to have the longest front overhang.

The above links to the gala page on the SVR website. Loco facings are about halfway down, and are updated as and when locos arrive at the railway. Right now, only 4270 is yet to arrive, so its direction is TBA. Of the other eight locos actually scheduled to operate during the gala, only 90733 is shown as facing north, however 7812 and 43106 are also shown as north facing and may be used if a spare loco is called for.

90733 may yet be turned to face south before the gala gets under way as it is due to face that direction for Martin Creese's photo charter on Friday 27th. The WTT for Thursday 19th on the SVRLive website shows four paths for light engine movements from Bridgnorth to the Rock stabling point, all of which have a caveat indicating that the locomotive may be required to go to Kidderminster for turning, which probably means that final locomotive facings won't be known for sure until Friday morning.

    Hope that helps.

Sorry if this has been asked previously, but, how long are the visiting engines staying for or are they gala only appearances?

Gunna say, been a bit organised and got a few spots I'd like to try and get (need to find them first) and had planned on 90733 being North. Also half planned on 4270 being North too so I've come out ok really - now I just need to work out where I'm going.

Looking forward to my first ride on the line - I'm a Seven Valley Virgin...

Just a heads up for anyone who has not been to an SVR Gala before. The car park at Kidderminster tends to be full up quite early in the day. Cannot speak for the field at Bridgnorth, but I suspect the same applies.
Arriving by rail at Kidderminster ( on the Big railway...) saves the aggro of car parking, etc! Fifty yards or so from NR Kidderminster to SVR Kidderminster.

Which loco caused the lineside fire at Eardington?

Enjoyed viewing that video of the WD, I sat in the first carriage, and noticed a pronounced surge when it was working hard. The steam heating was very, very effective. I enjoyed the visit to the SVR today.

4270. I had broken down right by the cutting, just before the Halt. It was quite bad at one point.

Oops! Summer long steam ban for the SVR...

Maybe it's just a ploy so 4270 will finally come back to the GWSR, barely been on our metals!

Which run with the WD did you capture? I enjoyed viewing it.
