Yes, seem to recall they called it "The Cheshire Cheese" or something similar, referencing both the area and circular nature of the tour, :)

The last run of the 4 is on the cards for me.

Times for the first of the Shrewsbury trips, on 28th March, are now on RTT:
    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U50647/2015/03/28/advanced
    http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/U50648/2015/03/28/advanced

There's a difference from the description on the Compass web-site: the train goes via Runcorn East straight to Chester in the morning. Steam haulage is Chester - Wrexham - Shrewsbury - Nantwich - Crewe - Beeston - Chester. So no change to the total route, just to the sequence.

Looks like the light engine does go to Crewe first, then out to Chester:

We often mutter about the media not understanding the difference between a train and a locomotive. You might expect someone in the business to know better, but here's a quote from a WCRC/Compass emailshot:
"You are sitting in the comfort of our beautifully upholstered seat, in a carefully restored Mk1 carriage. Ahead, your vintage diesel or steam train will take you ..."

I leave others to comment about the passenger accommodation.

If you are travelling First Class then what is said about the beautifully upholstered seat in a carefully restored Mark 1 coach is probably correct. I think you'll find it's just a case of priorities.......

Reported that Galatea could well be on the steam section of the Pendle Dalesman, next Wednesday 25th. :)

I think it was going to be rather obvious that with 46115 already having enough on its platter that Leander would be power. It would be very surprising for Galatea given what has been said recently about her status.

Should be renamed Phoenix so swiftly has it risen from reportedly being laid up. And barely a fortnight after its most recently advertised outing was missed.
    Is Compass under new ownership?

Perhaps its thought wiser to use it in house first before hiring it out in that case.

The route has changed again. The good news is: steam from Preston to Shrewsbury and back. The less good news: via Crewe and Nantwich both ways. See UKSteam.info

Laid up could have meant still several days work, and now it's fixed. What's Phoenix like about that, or is it just knock West Coast day.
