A Jubilee performing superbly. Hopefully the owner, in his capacity as WCRC traction manager, can achieve the same standard from 45699.
Only my opinion but on the brief observations so far 45690 seems a far superior performer than its sister and a credit to the guys that overhauled her. They seem to have improved an already good engine.
Gordon Hodgson at the helm southbound must have relished that run.

With what was plan C soon becoming plan A, Leander putting on a show on the southbound run up to Shap Summit.

Video of yesterdays train. Leander, seen firstly during shunting operations at Hellifield, then passing Anley, northbound on the S & C. Next, seen rushing up to Lazonby Tunnel and finally, heading for the summit at Shap on the run back to Carnforth and home.

I rate Leander as the no.1 loco out of Carnforth after yesterday!

Anyone got any timings to post? Seemed rather a laboured climb of the Long Drag from the video clips.

Thanks Liam, a bit rushed really, as I had another location in mind, but, as I had waited until the very last minute for The WCME near Appleby, I reluctantly decided to bail and get over to Shap pronto. I have been to this location before; you get a great view of the train from around Sweet Holme just before Shap Village all the way up to the summit, so it is a good place to stand and watch the action. You can see the exhaust trail in the attached photo that I just couldn't resist taking:

That looks an intersting spot, do you think it would be any good for video or is the road too busy and noisy?

Hello Ralph, I have been to this location twice before last Saturday, and although the old A6 is close by, there seems to be very little traffic using the road these days and what noise there is, doesn't bother the video recording too much, if at all, check out my video up-thread. There is scope to video all the way from Harrison's sidings up to the summit. On Saturday, I knew that the train was imminent as a cloud of black smoke rose up - probably from the Thrimby Grange vicinity - followed a few minutes later by exhaust steam as the train passed Harrison's, a wonderful sight to see in the distance.

Each time that I've been to this spot, I have had it to myself - apart from the dead sheep to keep me company this last Saturday!! I saw several photographers on the over-bridge or in the lay-bye a couple of hundred yards further north - its just great when you can get a location all to yourself, isn't it. Just one word of warning, at this time of the year, the lineside growth is well suppressed, however it will be back to block the view in a month or so. Give it a go Ralph, but please share your results with the rest of us here.

    All the best,

    Cheers

    Alan

Loving seeing the videos/photos etc, Leander seems to be doing absolutely superbly, and really love the black on her, but I also was wondering why the slow climb up from Ribblehead? Any particular reason for this?
And also strange observation and being completely picky here, but what happened to her hooter? She seemed to have a pitch perfect voice 10 years ago, and sounded exactly how a Jub should sound, but now it kinda - doesn't?
