Good news about Can Pac & the coaches.

Must've taken some doing considering the number of Bulleids about........ (loco's not coaches.)

 

Great news about Can Pac and the coaches. Well done to all those involved in the HLF application. It is a very competitive market so the MHR have done very well.

 

Just curious, how many Bulleid coaches does the MHR actually have? I know the Bluebell loaned a couple but that's about it...

 

Two that are based on the line (4211 and 4367) both brake thirds and one of which has run on the line. Then there is 1456, a third open which is the one loaned by the Bluebell.

 

I can't help thinking a Herring would be awfully inconvenient for that job. Wouldn't you be better off with something like a Starfish?

 

Yes, congratualtions to everyone involved with the bid. Just goes to show that as long as you pull together an attractive package with a USP (in this case, a complete Bulleid train), the fact that there are several other members of the class in existence isn't necessarily a hindrance.

 

The Southern Daily Echo did a story on the award and it's not a bad read the pictures however are a nightmare. They managed not to get any photos of CanPac and there title photo is Bodmin of all locos. It doesn't get better as further down the page we get photos of Duke of Gloucester and Tornado

Impressive that not a single one of the photos is of CanPac, but as you say, at least there are no howlers in the text that are at least blindingly obvious.

TBH, I'd take the publicity for what it's worth - a nice piccie of a steam engine obviously at Alresford with lots of happy punters can't be bad, can it, even if it is a bit Gordon the big engine blue!

I tell you what is a bit odd, the heritage lottery hasn't announced the funding on there own website.

 

Has someone jumped the gun? It is usually written into the conditions that any public announcement is embargoed until the HLF announce it!

 

No one jumped the gun a friend of mine is doing an internship at a local paper and he forwarded me the HLF media release when it was issued the same day as the mid hants website statement. But hey the important thing is we got the grant
