How did 45321 cope Tom? Any problems any slewing needed? No twists and turns? (said in a Stewie Griffin high pitched voice)

No problems as I recall - the S15 is also fine. One of the issues with 4/5 is that it is curved. Platform 3 is straight which helps with gauging (i.e. overhang). I seem to recall that when 5199 visited (and I think L150 - can't remember), it was restricted to platform 3, which meant our normal use of platforms for crossing trains had to be altered. Normally we use 3 for up trains and 4/5 for down, but when 5199 was running, it always ran through 3 in either direction, which meant the signalman had to be on the ball to remember which loco it was when accepting down trains.

As a general rule, the LBSCR had a very generous loading gauge for height, but not especially generous for width, which was why many LBSCR locos (such as the Atlantics) had their boiler fittings cut down in SR days to give them wider route availability. The LSWR was the other way round - quite generous for width. The SECR was very restricted, but it means those locos will go anywhere!

Certainly contrasts well with those funny green things that go tick-tock-tick-tock-tick-tock.
