Once the volunteer accommodation at Bridgo is completed and the siding is reconnected the 4 CK's currently used for accommodation could be released for overhaul and return to traffic. How keen the C & W boys would be on having an additional set to maintain is another question, in addition to whether there's a business case of any kind for increasing the number of mk1's available for traffic. I feel the most likely outcome for the 4 green mk1's (depending on their condition in comparison to the other unrestored/unservicable mk1's on the SVR) is for them to be sold to a line more in need of them.

Andy. I doubt the 4 SKs would be restored. All the corridor connections have been removed and steel sheet welded over to stop further rotting around that area. The floors are very spongy and holes are appearing more and more. The list does go on.
I imagine they will provide a small source of spares but thats all.

Matt. The tool van is somewhere down the south end being refurbished I believe for a couples holiday let or something along those lines.

I think the idea is that it won't be a permanent fixture in any one place. Then when it is booked out in theory the customer can request the station of their choosing for their holiday. Not sure of the operational feasibility of that in practice though. Guess we'll find out.

A mobile camping coach that gets attached to a service train and moved between stations a couple of times during your week's stay might well be fun if the economics and practicality could be worked out. Big if perhaps.

Yeah, I was thinking that too. Would definitely be fun if it were permanently attached to one of the service sets during a gala with all night running. A night on the lash in the fleshpots of Bewdley  and then stagger down to the station at 2am and along rolls your mobile private bedrooom!

Haha, if the 2 Hawksworth sleepers weren't in use at Kidderminster and Arley, I've always toyed with the idea that the railway could offer first class sleeper accommodation on the overnight services. It'll never happen though.

Any gen on whether 34053 will be operating this weekend? The SVR website listing runs from Saturday to Friday rather than Sunday to Saturday, so this Saturday's roster isn't available. Still going if not, but any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the gen. Had a fantastic couple of trips behind 34053- sounding pretty sharp from where I was sitting. Still the issue with centring, but a short reversal ususally does the trick. Surprised this isn't done automatically, as with 34092 on the KWVR.

Hmmm. Will agree to disagree there- the area around the smokebox looks similar to an S160 from some angles without the blinkers, and whilst a decent locomotive when it comes to brute force, S160s, like the Q1s (which I really do have a soft-spot for) were not known for their good looks...
