I feel bad for the passengers, but even worse for the volunteer stewards on the train. I am sure many of the passengers are bombarding the stewards with questions based on things they have read not only on this forum, but on the other forums also. The stewards simply will not have the answers and will be put in a most awkward situation.

And I dive head-first into the cesspool of rumors and conjecture by adding that I hear the 66 is only booked to Carnforth, and not all the way to Grange. BUT there are still 40+ hours to get that fixed.

Has Mr Riley provided any information about the LE movement on The Works Forum?? Or is that silent.

You need to look at the NR / ORR / WCRC thread over there. Yesterday, Ian R posted "As soon as there is any real news, I will let you all know.....everybody is working very hard." No updates since...

70000 racing towards Tiverton earlier today - no sign of the steam leak from yesterday this afternoon.

"The Works" was updated just now - Ian R says the light engine move from Grosmont tomorrow is "Postponed...I hope?"

At least steam can heat the train in this chilly weather (as shown in Mr Knowun's video), unlike the yinging shed.
    Cold journey for non-steam portions?

So looks like no WCRC no LE movement then. Rather hoped for the passengers' sakes DBS might have facilitated it. Doesn't look good.

I repeat now and will do so until I am blue in the face. I hear on GOOD AUTHORITY, VERY GOOD AUTHORITY that their is a DBS diesel throughout from Cardiff to Carnforth where its duty ends with no further information about what happens beyond that. I would be absolutely staggered if my source is incorrect. Maybe DBS drivers or representatives can come on here and confirm. After all, is that is what is happening, they should not fear disclosing it. The passengers deserve to know.

If what is being said is correct, there's every chance the passengers do already know.

Apologies make that a Class 66 from Bristol not Cardiff and all the way through to Carnforth where DBS will have completed their duty. It seems that road transport may be provided for the passengers to Grange Over Sands but I cannot be 100% sure about that.
With all of the other information coming in, it really does seem as though my reports are correct. If the train does terminate at Carnforth, I hope that the whereabouts of the WCR offices is not known to the passengers as some of them may have a few words to say. On the other hand they may show up to offer their sincere apologies for the evolving debacle.

I think the insurmountable problem must be NO HEATING, if no 67 or 68's are available from DBS

Managed to pop past Victoria to see the departure this morning and felt huge respect for everyone who must've done so much behind the scenes across multiple organisations to make sure this trip could still happen - and leave London steam-hauled - against all the odds. But I do hope the rest of the week turns out as good as possible as well.

or perhaps bags of cash to refund the customers in person.
Maybe they've made up some sleeping coaches in the confines of 10A.

Before we all get over-excited, let's just stop and review to situation.

I've just looked back at DeafTech's post about the information he received from RTC on Saturday. He doesn't quote RTC directly, just gives a brief summary of the plan as given in the letter. So we don't know how much was firm promises and how much was conditional, nor what it might have been conditional on. If RTC have any sense, it will all have been written using conditional language after day 2.

Ian Riley says tomorrow's loco move is postponed, not cancelled. He doesn't say when it's postponed to. So, once again, we must wait and see. I suspect, though, that the first people to hear definite news, when there is any, will be the GB8 passengers, so there's no need to work up a lather of righteous indignation on their behalf (Hatherton Hall and others ;))

True, though I'd like to think most right thinking passengers will be staying well away from this forum at the moment, especially now they are in the wonderful Duchy of Cornwall with all it has to offer.

Actually, Al, it does rather look as though 83B and Liam were well-informed.
