It's how, when or whether the 5's go to Scotland that's probably the more important issue.

Can't see why road coaches from Carnforth to Grange would be a massive problem, its only a 30 odd mins journey. Would agree the apparent absence of heat on the train is going to be a huge issue however,I wonder how that got past the planning stage?

I thought you were the main one not asking for speculation on this thread but I have seen you change tack more than a small boat on lake Windermere !

To save me looking for an old Platform 5 book, are any of the coaches in the formation the old SLOA Generator Van? (I can imagine, if the temperature down West is anything like that "Up North" has been today, the lack of train heat would already have been "highlighted" as am issue!!)

Fair point. But the big difference is that I'm not guessing or reporting any rumour - just worried for the passengers and hoping that the 5's move at some point to meet GB VIII.

No, there's no generator van in the formation. Given the recent weather, it was probably thought that ETH would not be required - maybe the 66 will be replaced by something that can supply heat if necessary.

IIRC, the generator van, or "Jenny" was part of one of the old EWS sets, so is presumably now owned by Riviera ? I'm not aware of WCR owning any generator vans.

Isn't the train running past Crewe where DBS have a depot or even later Carnforth where WCRC have a lot of carriage heaters not doing anything at the moment.

What surprises me is that nothing whatsoever is coming from the passengers on the train.........why?

I believe it is OOS as you say, however don't forget there may well be a steam generator attached for the Grange to Edinburgh leg....

There are no passengers. The tour never left Victoria, its all a clever con contrived by the Nasa moon landing propagandists
