This is good news, not least because this tour involves a good chunk of the "InterCity" network, from York to Newcastle and Leeds to York. I was worried that WCRC might be confined to "secondary" lines to begin with. It's also significant because it's an RTC tour, so earlier worries that WCRC would be concentrating on their own operations appear to be wide of the mark.

I wonder what the loco will be? Is 60009 back together yet? If not, which one could deputise? 46115? 60007?

Timed at 60mph? Don't know whether to read anything into that, also steam off at Hellifield on the return run? (That's just what it looks like from the timings). York-Newcastle-Carlisle-Hellifield would still be a fair chunk of steam mileage either way, especially with what's happened over the course of the last month.

I went past Crewe on the 30th April and 6th May, and on both occasions No.9 was under a tarpaulin, minus driving wheels, chimney and (I think) cab. I'd say it's unlikely that it'll be 60009 on this...

A friend who is booked on this advises "60009 unavailable for operational reasons; replaced by 46115".

A post on the 'Lensmen' forum this morning suggests that it will actually be 45699 ... which is still maroon, by the way.

I think that's correct. It was shown on tops this morning as allox Carnforth - Holgate today, along with 47760.

Glad that Galatea is the one that has been fired up. Her last couple of tours has found her to be in top form on the Pendle Dalesmans.
