A wonderful image. Having seen the wooden replica of this metal replica nameplate hanging in the "Flag & Whistle" Café at Toddington over many visits over many years, it's brilliant to see a P&O nameplate in its proper position once more. Well done!

OK, probably not the wisest place to air the following opinion, but...
Am I the only one for whom all these glorious MN names just make me wish we had just ONE British ocean liner preserved in the UK, and would happily trade in most of the surviving MNs for the prospect....

    Such as?.......

I'd say be grateful for what we've got! There's nothing to stop those we have being renamed & numbered as those that didn't survive. :)

Which is a damn sight more than my beloved LNER! :(

Problem is maritime preservation makes railway heritage look like child's change. You just have to the lack of the lack of naval ships being saved and cut up. Although it would be good to see one unless it was a proper cruise ship like the Queen Mary or the QE2 it just wouldn't attract crowds and become a giant money pit.

Agreed, but this one (shown in WWI Hospital Ship livery) might. Unlike its 2 sisters, Titanic and Britannic, RMS Olympic survived until as recently as 1934 and no doubt, would be a very useful film prop! (It was not identical to Titanic but very similar)

Don't start with Olympic similar to Titanic debate! We'll have the 'it wasn't Titanic that sank' theorists on here! And that'll be worse than any livery debate!

Trying to go to bed actually Matt, V early start on the morrow - wagon painting at Alton.

IIRC, express freight, Google it or wait for Tom to give the definitive - I just like steam, messing around with wagons, and NOT being a rivet counter or bookworm! ;):)

I don't know if there has been four operational light pacifics in the same county since preservation it looks like it will happen this weekend and in Worcestershire almost anyway.
As £4027 and 34053 are out at the severn valley and 34007 and 34092 at the GWR.
