October 2007 saw 21C123, 34007, 34028 and 34081 were all operational on the Bluebell so Sussex can make a prior claim.

So close, but the GWSR isn't in Worcestershire yet, Laverton is still just in Gloucestershire. I suppose we'll have to wait until we get to Broadway and do it again - perhaps next time with the T9!

I brought this up in the SVR thread but when 34027 ran on Saturday with 34053 also in steam I assume this was the first time in preservation that a rebuilt WC and rebuilt BoB have been in steam together at the same place (unless they were in steam together when 34027 was being run in).

And what a great Gala that was. I got a bit carried away and stayed much longer than I had intended and didn't leave until it was dark.

Despite the attractions at the GWSR this weekend, there was indeed plenty of "rebuilt" action on the SVR with both 34027 and 34053 on service trains on Saturday, and I assume for the rest of the weekend. 34053 northbound on Saturday morning (load 8) was displaying its ongoing difficulty of moving off in the intended direction, having to set back at both Arley and Hampton Loade.

On a different subject, I notice from videos from the GWSR that 34092 carries nameplates "Wells" rather than "City of Wells" as it did previously. Anyone happen to know the reason for this shortened nameplate?

    Thanks

Further to DD's reply, when 34092 was first tilt she carried Wells nameplates but the full City Of Wells plates were applied soon after.

Was noticing 34092 and how smoothly she was pulling the trains.

My footage from the Sunday and Monday of the GWSR's 'Speed to the West' themed Cotswold Festival of Steam. Plenty of Bulleid action here, with several shots of 34092 & 34007 at work, both solo and double headed.

Remember 34092 and 34007 are running the service trains at the GWSR this Saturday with wells also running Sunday. I'm sure the Svr might roster a bulleid or two as well so you might as well make a weekend of it! You might even catch another glimpse of 35006 so that's 5 SR Pacific's less than an hour apart!

After having a good old mosey around 34051 last week I then purchased a copy of 'Winston Churchill and the Bullied Pacifics' by Rob Adamson and Chris Nettleton. Wow! What a fantastic read and some superb photographs like 35020 and its axle off its wheel at Crewkerne. As someone who dosn't know much about the Southern have to say what a fantastic read it is. And if you want to see what OVS Bullied got up to after he left the Southern theres a nice little bit about his work with CIE including some intresting photos of the Turf Burner. A cracking read and all for under a tenner. Well worth it.

Had a great day recently on the GWSR behind 34092 and 34007 and the giesl ejector sounded very different to standard design on Wadebridge to ride behind thats for sure!!!

Go to 5:00 for some real action from Wells- the gradient to Greet Tunnel seemed like the only place either of them got some real bark going, but then I guess thats not surprising when really they were designed to haul 10 or 12 coaches at over 70 mph on the ACE!!!

At the recent photo charter organised by our very own "Sidmouth" - Martin Creese of 30472 Charters, there was the opportunity to photo two Spam Cans and a Packet.

Martin also organised an impromptu night shoot to make up for the lack of sun during the evening for the pairing of 34007 and 34092

My Dad sent me this today not the best but I rather like it. IMG_1800.jpg 34053 awaiting RA from Bridgnorth (or elsewhere on the WR) 1959 or 2015?
